Description
As I painted this watercolor alongside the Little Susitna River, the sound of the rushing water was very soothing and calming. The Hatcher Pass area in South Central Alaska is a very popular tourist attraction besides drawing artists and photographers to capture the beautiful countryside.

This reminds me of gold panning. I know there is no "gold" in the picture, but the trees, the rushing water, seems like a great place for a sluice box... :)
Karen Mattson replied:
It does, Cheri! It reminds me of the last time we went to Crow Creek and all that was left were the big rocks...all the small gravel/sand had been already panned or sluiced out! I imagine there is gold here, since it comes out of Hatcher Pass.
