When did you paint this? I love it.

Karen Mattson replied:

Hi Sena! I painted this a few years ago from life. I still have the original, thinking it would be a great addition to my kitchen. Sigh...it's just a little too large to fit under my cabinets. The original is still available, and of course prints can be purchased from this sight. I'm happy to hear you love it! Thank you! Karen

The red onions, also known as purple onions have a white flesh and are high in flavonoids, so are good for your health. They are very good in many dishes and add a lot of great flavor. This painting would add a lot of interest and color to your kitchen or restaurant.

About Karen Mattson

Karen Mattson

Karen Mattson, Artist Karen Mattson grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but moved to Alaska in 1968. She considers herself a self-taught artist, but has enjoyed learning from a few artists traveling in Alaska. The excitement, challenges, spontaneity and surprises of watercolor invigorate her, so she constantly makes demands on herself to expand on the possibilities of this medium. Her intrigue with flowers comes from a deep love of gardening and the miracles, shadows and colors it produces. Her plein air work is primarily painted with oils and the use of a palette knife. Karen is a signature member of the Alaska...
